Take a Picture - Weekend day 25 & 26

Since I didn't have time to post yesterday, I decided to do a 2 for 1 post!  Enjoy!

Day 25 1-29-11

It was a busy day for me yesterday.  During the day I went to a bridal shower for my best friend brother's fiance', who was surprised by the way which is always good.  Even got to take home the flower centerpiece for finishing first with my awesome word search skills.  The flowers were hydrangeas and Iris'.  Apparently when taking photos of flowers it makes a big difference if you are going to use your flash or not.  See below!

Then at night  saw a comedy show at Brick 46 in Rockaway (good pizza by the way) that featured Michael Blaustein, Kenny Michaels, & Thomas Dale!

Afterwards Laura & I took some group shots, and wouldn't you know it 3 out of the 4 of us are smiling and in the other group shot only 2 are smiling!

Day 26 1-30-11

While driving to church today the sky was looking pretty awesome with the clouds and the sun setting like this tri-color effect in the sky!

Then had to take a pic of these rock star glasses!

Take A Picture - Day 24 - Chocolat

Well today I learned a very important rule in photography!  Always make sure your memory card is in the camera before you leave.  That is exactly what I did today and found this out when I was about to take a photo when the camera informed me of my sillyness, then I realized that I left the card inside my laptop!  Luckily I had my phone camera as a back up!

Well tonight I had one of the best dinners ever.....Choclate!!  Tom & I went to Night of Chocolate at Hawthorne Library tonight.  A event that the Friends of the Library have been a few year where they serve nothing but choclate desserts of all varities including this lovely arrangement of lindt chocolates!

They even had a drawing where you can win prizes and guess what..........my name actually got called.  So I got this lovely prize of an Irish scarf (it was between this or a bunch a mug sets and a mug is the last thing I need lol lol)

Take a Picture - Day 23 Night Vision

So today I forgot to take my camera with me to take some pics outside of what else..........snow LOL!  But it's ok, because of times like these I use my camera on my phone which has night vision.

So here are some pics of the trees in my back yard and my snow bunker that has now grown, and will probably continue to do so!

Take a Picture - Day 22 - Snow Bound

So what does one do when they are stuck home because of a snow storm (besides cleaning the house lol) they take pictures of the snow outside!   

It's hard to take decent night shots from your window without using your flash unless you have an ISO setting of 3200, then you get these!

Take those lights down people!  You're overdue!! :)

Since I didn't "take a new picture" today (nothing really inspired me today, just being honest).

I decided to share a photo from my photography portfolio and one of my favorite winter shots.

I saw these ice flake formations!  It's funny because this was the only window they were on in my apt!

Take a Picture - Day 19 - Moonstruck

On our way driving home tonight I couldn't help but looking up at the moon tonight it was low in the sky tonight and looked so close!  So I took this photo while in the car (I was the passenger and not driving lol)

Then once I got home took this one looking out my window (I had to lighten it up a little bit in photoshop, because it was too dark because I couldn't use my flash)

Even though I don't like winter all to much, I do like the way the barren trees look against the dusk sky!

Mental Picture

Once again saw the perfect thing to take a photo of and of course I was driving in my car!
Although this time I actually did have my camera on me, but I don't shoot and drive.
I was on my way to work driving on the wet roads when I kept seeing rainbow mists, I guess the way the sun's relection was hitting the mists of the back car tires was creating them.  It was pretty cool to see them.  Oh well maybe next time!

Take a Picture - Day 15 - snow!

Well it's been two weeks since I started this photo venture of mine and it's been fun so far, I really hope I will keep this up (missed a few days here and there , but hey its ok, I'm keeping this to being fun and not a requirement).  The weather the past few days has been blah and left me feeling uninspired, snow is everywhere!!

Speaking of snow, today's picture is of my back yard and wanted to capture this before it melted some or changed form.  It reminds me of a bunker hiding spot that would be perfect for the ultimate snowball fight with a bunch of 10 year olds.  If I wasn't so wimpy with the cold, I would test it out for myelf  :) !

Take a picture - Day 12 - A Different View

Sometimes with my photography I like to take a photo of something at a different angle to get a new perspective on it, like with this light fixture that hangs in the lobby of the Morristown Hyatt.  When you walk in you can't help but look at these 2 wonderful vertical light glass sculptures. 

The first time I saw them, they instantly reminded me of the famous glass blower artist Dale Chihuly whose work I first saw at the Oklahoma City Art Museum and then at the New York Botanical gardens.  Tom asked at the front desk once if they were Chihuly lights and found out they were not original Chihuly but replicas. 

Taking a photo of this light while standing right underneath allows you to see this wonderful sunburst.

Take a Picture - Day 10 Party On!

I went to my friend Matt's new apt party and loved this sign he had hanging on his wall along with the wood reed sort of incense he has that ties into the saying! Not bad for a guy pad!!

Also, a sign of a good party is the amount of people that show up for it as evidence of the shoes on the floor (still don't know why he had us take them off, he has tile floor so it's easy clean up lol !)

Take a Picture - Day 9 light it up!

We all have our little ocd habits that we do everyday in a certain way at home or at work.

For me it's when I turn some of the lights on in the store everyday. I find that I'm always turning on the same ones, usually the ones I like the best and the prettiest or provide the most light.

The lights below are right by the counter and I love to switch them on everyday, they are so colorful and sparkly. I guess since I can't afford them (they cost close to $300.00 because of the grade of crystal that is on them).

But, I can dream can't I LOL! :)

Take a Picture - Day 8

Well this morning I have to say for once I was disappointed to see the sun this morning because I thought it was going to still be snowing. I guess the 2 storms blew right by us quicker than the weather people thought. No worries I still had a snow day anyway!!

Also, found out (through my mom on facebook) that it was our family iguana's b-day "Iggy" today. She/he is 9 years old today! It's amazing since at one point in her ife she was really sick and we thought Iggy wasn't going to make it, but pulled though.

Also, Iggy survived (at my hands, but total accident) its tail being ripped away from its body (i have to admit it was kinda weird but cool that the tail was still wagging for a minute or two afterwards) a few years back too.

Here's to you Iggy, you're a trooper!!

Some pics taken of the latest snow storm so far, it was too cold to go outside so I took them from my front window, but hard to take since I can't really use a flash but they still came out good and show the drearyness of the storm!

Take a Picture - Day 6

Well yesterday since it was Sunday I decided to give myself a "day of rest" from taking a pic!!



Today I finally took down my Christmas decorations and now things are back to being kinda empty and plain, just like this table I was using as a stand for my tree. It's a before shot, because I have creative plans for it. I will post a pic when I'm fnished with my project!!

Take a Picture - Day 3 & 4

So I don't know if you were outside around 4:30ish (est) yesterday, but if you were it was so nice outside with the trees cover with the freshly fallen snow from that morning and the sun that was setting underneath the grey clouds, it made for the ultimate picture. Of course I didn't have my camera on me and also I was driving, but took a mental picture.

I did take a picture of the trees with my camera on my phone last night with my night vision feature and another one today of the trees with the fallen snow on them.

Even though I'm not a total fan on snow, I do like the winter wonderland scene the trees have to offer!

Take a Picture - 2nd day

Tonight, we hung out with some friends to eat in Chinatown then Little Italy for dessert, which was still decorated for Christmas. As we were walking I looked up across the street and saw Santa Claus and never saw a santa sitting in that way totally relaxed like he's being interviewed or something and almost like he should be smoking a cigarette too! Had to take the shot with my camera phone!

Well Happy New Year all!!

It's been over a year since I last did a post on here. Let's just say in 2010 I was kinda busy planning a wedding and moving. But I did create my own online portfolio displaying some of my photography & Graphic design work. You can check it out here

Well, I was inspired by reading a post on Hannah's blog (http://www.misshannahinmontana.blogspot.com/) about how in the new year everyday she wants to read more, pray, take a photo etc. and the take a photo struck me and I thought that's a great idea and since I love photography it's a great way to keep me motivated and capture something new! So I'm going to "try" this take a new photo everyday and see how it goes and if I keep up with it. Wish me luck!
